The future of poultry showing at Bribbaree is assured with a new poultry shed in the pipeline out at the village’s showground.

On Tuesday (March 10) Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced the Bribbaree Show Society would receive $110,000 to erect and fit out a purpose-built poultry shed under the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

The funding announcement also saw a huge $1,137,526 allocated for the Young Aquatic Centre redevelopment.

This funding will complete stage 2A of the centre redevelopment including the installation of a combined splash pool and splash pad and supporting filtration systems, concrete concourse surrounds, shade sails and seating.

This brings the total of funding from the NSW Government for the Young Aquatic Centre redevelopment to more than $2.8 million.

Tuesday’s announcement marks round three of funding announcements under the Stronger Country Communities program with a total $1,701,742 spread across six projects in the Hilltops region for the coming year.

This includes the Young Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) who will transform their gymnastics program to provide 1000 hours of classes to attendees experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

The $101,798 funds will allow for the installation of netting, the purchase of new equipment and minor building works at the PCYC’s Lachlan Street facility.

Young's Aquatic Centre

The funding announcement means Stage 2 of Young’s Aquatic Centre upgrade can also go ahead.

Young Pony Club will be building new undercover stables with the $84,720 they received on Tuesday and there’s $160,000 for the Scout Association of Australia Young Branch – to repair and upgrade their meeting hall including improvements to the kitchen.

And the sports court area at Wombat Sports and Recreation Ground will be upgraded thanks to $107,698 in funding also provided under the Stronger Country Communities Fund.

In making the announcement, Ms Cooke said the projects were all about making our communities even more liveable.

“So many of these developments are about improving access to facilities to help more people get active, from the Young Pony Club’s project which will improve conditions for Riding for the Disabled participants and other riders, to improving Wombat’s sports court, to the fantastic Young aquatic centre redevelopment,” she said.
