A man charged with armed robbery of a South Coast service station has faced court for the first time.

On Thursday (7 May), Brodie Seffelaar, 30, briefly appeared in Bail Court Division 3.

A NSW Police spokesperson previously said that at about 9 pm on Tuesday (5 May), police were called to a service station on the Princes Highway at Cobargo, following reports of an armed robbery.

On arrival, officers attached to the South Coast Police District were told a man, allegedly armed with a handgun, had entered the store.

He allegedly threatened a 19-year-old female store attendant.

The man drove away from the scene after allegedly taking cigarettes and cash.

“The woman was shaken but not physically injured,” police said at the time.

The spokesperson also said that, following their inquiries, a 30-year-old was arrested at about noon yesterday (7 May) at a home on the Princes Highway at Cobargo.

A search warrant was carried out at the home, where police allegedly located and seized a replica pistol, tobacco products and cash.

The items will undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Narooma Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon and possession of an unauthorised pistol.

On Thursday, Mr Seffelaar did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused.

He is next expected to face court in Batemans Bay on 18 May. No pleas were entered.
