ReBoot in Bermagui is offering two new runs this year, a half-marathon trail run and a 10 km town run, adding to the existing 5 km and kids’ runs.
In typical ReBoot fashion, the runs are only part of the two-day event with ocean swims, a coastal bike ride and boot camps on the program too.
Participants and friends and family are also invited to try yoga, pickleball, golf, tennis, tai chi, a silent disco and more on the October long weekend.
Julie Rutherford is a member of the management committee and said they had double the number of entries compared to this time last year which they attributed to the addition of the extra runs and the unique nature of the event.
“ReBoot aims to provide activities and events for all ages and abilities,” Ms Rutherford said.
“We have grandparents participating in some events with their grandchildren, plus parents with their children, so it is all quite fun. Last year we had three competitors in the swim in the 80-89 years age group, and we had a runner in that age group too.”
ReBoot’s inaugural half-marathon includes 300 metres of beach running, plus coastal bush tracks, walking trails and roads. It is a must-do for the adventurous trail runner and takes in the stunning scenery of Murunna Point.

The ocean swims are professionally timed.
All the runs on Saturday 3 October will be professionally timed. “We believe they are as good a running event as anywhere, but with more of a community feel as well as the experience of competing in our stunning coastal landscape,” Ms Rutherford said.
The 350 metre ocean swim across the bay and 1.2 km Horseshoe Bay ocean swim on Sunday morning are also professionally timed.
Another popular event that suits everyone from fit beginners to more experienced riders is the 34 km road bike ride on Sunday.
The quiet, undulating ride takes in some of the South Coast’s most beautiful scenery through forests and alongside beaches and farmland.
Kids can try a boot camp on the Saturday and there is one for adults on Sunday.
To reenergise and relax there are a range of yoga sessions on offer, plus Pilates, a wood-fired sauna and a crystal bowl sound spa. Sunda of O’Shen is running a Soundscape Dance Journey on Saturday and an Ecstatic Dance on Sunday. Rob Dunn is running two sessions of tai chi over the weekend. He has been teaching tai chi in Cobargo for around 25 years and has not missed a ReBoot.

ReBoot Bermagui has a 1.5 km kids’ run.
A crowd favourite, the tug-of-war challenge, is held after the runs on Saturday morning. “That is a really fun team event,” Ms Rutherford said. “The Deadly Runners are the ones to beat. They won it last year.”
People are also invited to come try their hand at tennis, barefoot bowls, stand-up paddle boarding, pickleball, badminton and golf. “The whole idea is for everyone to try something new and have fun doing it,” Ms Rutherford said.
The event is run by volunteers and 90 per cent of the area’s businesses have contributed to ReBoot in Bermagui by donating prizes.
Bermagui businesses will be open and offering a variety of food, beverage and boutique shopping options. The club and pub have live entertainment and both will televise the Sunday night NRL grand final.
All people registered for the runs, swims, bike ride and boot camps can enjoy the healthy breakfast free on Sunday morning. Others will need to pay $12.
