A former main contractor for two long-delayed Monaro pool projects has entered external administration.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council (SMRC) had been carrying out upgrades to the Cooma and Bombala public pools. Those works included refurbishing the main pools, new filtration systems and plant room upgrades.

But in late April, SMRC cancelled the main pool upgrade contract with Dalski Pty Ltd amid claims subcontractors for the project weren’t being paid.

At the time, council CEO Noreen Vu told a meeting the decision followed Dalski’s “failure to remedy the issues in the show cause notice”.

This week, the company entered external administration under Worrells.

A ‘new appointment’ portal on their website lists the administration as starting on 4 May (Monday).

In a statement late on Tuesday (5 May), Ms Vu confirmed the council was aware of and responding to the development.

“Council is seeking a full briefing from the appointed administrator to understand the implications and next steps,” she said.

“We have informed the subcontractors and suppliers who had been engaged by Dalski that an external administrator has now been appointed and will support them in navigating the administration process.”

A notice from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) states the first meeting of creditors will be at 10:30 am on 13 May, with people able to attend virtually.

“Creditors wishing to attend are advised proofs and proxies are to be submitted to the administrator by … 12 May 2026,” the notice states.

Earlier this month, SMRC secured further funding to complete the works.

Council meeting papers from the extraordinary meeting state the works are “approximately 90 per cent” finished.

There are an estimated 17 weeks of work still needed to finish the upgrades.

To handle the remainder, SMRC will now self-manage the project at a cost of $588,793.

During the meeting, councillors also agreed to authorise Ms Vu to pursue cost recovery and legal remedies in relation to the terminated contract.

In its statement on Tuesday, SMRC also directed further inquiries towards the Western Sydney office of Worrells.
