A rendering of what the Snowies’ newest ambulance station will look like has been released, three years after the facility was first promised.
In the latest milestone for the delayed project, an artist’s impression shows the outside of the long-awaited Jindabyne Ambulance Station.
Member for Monaro Steve Whan said it represented an important step for the project.
“I’m so pleased to be able to present the artist’s impressions today, and I look forward to construction commencing in the coming months,” he said.
“Our paramedics deserve a purpose-built station to help them deliver the best possible emergency and mobile medical care when and where it’s needed, and that’s exactly what they’ll have.”
The purpose-built facility was first announced in 2023 and is set to replace the existing Thredbo Terrace station.
It’s part of the NSW Government’s $232 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program, which has seen 53 new or refurbished NSW Ambulance stations across regional and rural parts of the state.
In July 2025 Mr Whan admitted there had been delays in its delivery, pointing to the need to find a location for the new facility.
At the time he said the NSW Government had finalised a land swap with a nearby school and the previous government hadn’t set aside funding for the new station.
This month, he welcomed news that work on the project was progressing.
“This announcement is a long time coming. When I became the local member for the second time, I found that the Nationals had made yet another empty promise.
“There was no design, no funding allocation and the government didn’t even own the land at the time – in other words, nothing but announcements.
“Since returning, I’ve been working closely with [NSW Health Minister Ryan Park] to make this project a reality.”

Once built, the new station will be located on Kosciuszko Road, to the west of Snowy Mountains Grammar School.
Now a site has been locked in, the planning and design for the new station are in their final stages.
The construction tender process is also underway, with construction work expected to start later this year.
The project is still waiting on planning approvals and the appointment of a builder.
It is expected to include six internal parking bays (including a dedicated wash bay), administration and office areas, staff facilities and parking and storage areas.
The site was selected following a comprehensive planning process using best-practice modelling software to map triple zero calls.
Its location is also set to offer optimal access to the major road network, ensuring optimal emergency response times across the Snowy Mountains.
