Tips, libraries, sports centres and more across South East NSW have been impacted due to the latest COVID-19 lockdown.

Several councils have had to close their facilities or adjust their operations after the state-wide, seven-day lockdown began on Saturday (14 August).

Eurobodalla Shire Council

Most council facilities are closed to the public, including its depots and administration centre in Moruya, but residents can continue to do business with council online and over the phone.

The closures include: libraries, the Bas, Narooma Swimming Centre, the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden, the Eurobodalla Youth Cafes and hireable spaces.

Waste facilities are open only to industrial and commercial contractors and for households not on the domestic waste service collection.

Family Day Care and Out of School Hours services will continue to operate for families who really need care. Embracing Babies and 3Bs Playgroup will have virtual opportunities for families.

Playgrounds, skate parks and tennis courts will remain open for personal use only.

Bega Valley Shire Council

Bega Valley Shire Council will return to online delivery for non-essential services.

Facilities to close during the lockdown include: customer service centre at Zingel Place in Bega, libraries, the Sapphire Aquatic Centre, the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre and the Bega Valley Regional Gallery.

Facilities that will remain open include waste transfer stations, council-managed childcare centres, as well as parks and playgrounds.

Building inspections will continue, except where building work involves an occupied dwelling.

Phone and online support is still available at the customer service centre. Staff can be contacted on 6499 2222 or by emailing [email protected].

Snowy Monaro Regional Council

SMRC has closed multiple public venues for the seven days.

These include: libraries and its regional mobile library service, Cooma and Jindabyne scrapmarts, Jindabyne Pool, Cooma Basketball stadium, Bombala and Cooma visitor centres, Raglan Art Gallary and community halls.

The shopfront of the Business Recovery Hub in Vale St, Cooma, is closed but support is available over the phone. Contact regional business manager Ben Verning on 0498 855 515 or council’s Recovery Team by emailing [email protected].

Council-managed caravan parks and camping grounds are also closed, except for permanent residents and those under extenuating circumstances.

But some facilities remain open.

These include customer service offices, playgrounds and ovals, transfer stations, landfill sites in Bombala, Cooma and Jindabyne, saleyards, residential aged care facilities in Berridale and Cooma, cemeteries and council depots.
