Emergency services were called at about 1:30 pm on Sunday (21 June) to reports of a crash near Old Bolaro Road at Nelligen.

NSW Police officers discovered two vehicles had collided and both drivers died at the scene.

They’re yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information about this incident have been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Kings Highway is shut in both directions from Braidwood to the roundabout with the Princes Highway.

A light vehicle diversion is possible along Nerriga Road, Turpentine Road and the Princes Highway.

The diversion will add about two hours to travellers’ journeys.

“Unless specified otherwise, operators of Class 1,2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Notice must consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternative route,” Live Traffic NSW advised.

“Operators of Class 1, 2 & 3 vehicles travelling under a Permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.”

As we are not aware yet of the causes of this collision, we cannot say what happened.
I regularly travel this section of road and the area is particularly dangerous due toi the narrow widths and narrow bridges. There has been fatalities in that area recently too.
It goes without saying that duplication of the Kings Highway would drastically reduce these incidences.
And provide many ecenomic benefits to the South Coast.

I don’t know how many used the Nerriga Road option, but it was not stop traffic along Araluen Road.
