Firefighters are working hard to contain a fire at the Tangled Vine Cafe on Orchard Street in Taralga.

Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue crews were called to reports of a deep fryer that had caught alight at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, 26 August.

The fire has since spread to the cafe’s ceiling, according to Southern Tablelands Rural Fire Service operational officer Lachlan Gilchrist.

There is also a significant amount of smoke, he said.

Police and ambulance crews remain on scene, however, there are no reports of injuries.

The cafe is a popular spot with locals and is well-known for its support of community groups and organisations including the Rural Fire Service during the recent bushfires.
