Wagga Wagga Base Hospital’s vaccination clinic will host a ‘Booster Blitz’ this weekend (22 January) for anyone due for their third ‘booster’ dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

From Friday, 21 January, the suggested booster interval in NSW will be reduced to three months. This means anyone who had their second vaccination dose before 24 October, 2021, will be able to receive their booster jab.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) will open its doors to the community for walk-in vaccinations any time between 9 am and 3 pm on Saturday, 22 January.

Alongside news of the ‘Booster Blitz’, MLHD announced the availability of the Moderna vaccine from 24 January at its vaccination clinics in Wagga Wagga and Griffith. The Moderna vaccine will be available each Monday between 9 am and 12 pm.

MLHD is also reminding members of the public that there are more than 100 locations across the district that administer COVID-19 vaccinations.

MLHD will also resume its visits to rural communities to deliver vaccines for people of all ages.

The MLHD recorded a total of 847 new cases in the 24 hours leading up to 8 pm on Wednesday, 19 January, bringing the total active cases in the district to 4839.

Albury tops the region with 1386 active cases, while Wagga Wagga has 931.

During that 24-hour period, a man aged in his 90s from Albury died from COVID-19. There are currently 32 people hospitalised and three in intensive care with the virus.
