A woman from the Bega Valley region was one of seven people charged following a police operation in Sydney’s northwest.
Officers from Strike Force Guard were undergoing a planned investigation at a property on Putty Road in Colo, believed to be used by members of Blockade Australia, on Sunday morning (19 June).
There the officers said a group of people approached them.
Police alleged the group surrounded them and the tyres of an unmarked police vehicle were damaged to such an extent it couldn’t be driven.
Officers attached to the Hawkesbury Police Area Command responded to the incident, along with neighbouring commands and specialist resources including PolAir, the Dog Unit, the Public Order and Riot Squad, Police Rescue, Raptor Squad and Operations Support Group.
As a result, seven people were arrested.
Among them was a 22-year-old woman from Doctor George Mountain, near Bega, who was charged with four offences:
- Affray
- Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
- Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty
A 24-year-old man from Putty, Sydney, was charged with six offences:
- Affray
- Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
- Destroy or damage property
- Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty
- Aid commission of crimes
A 27-year-old man from Katoomba was charged with five offences:
- Affray
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
- Destroy or damage property
- Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty
- Aid commission of crimes
A 21-year-old woman from South Brisbane was charged with four offences:
- Affray
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
- Destroy or damage property in company
- Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty
A 27-year-old man from Melbourne was charged with three offences:
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
- Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty
- Aid commission of crimes
A 20-year-old man from Northcote, Victoria, was charged with wilfully obstructing an officer in execution of duty.
A 35-year-old man from Hurlstone Park, Sydney, was charged with aiding the commission of crimes.
Strike Force Guard was established in March this year to prevent, investigate and disrupt unauthorised protests across the state.
