Standing proudly on a double block of 2156 square metres, 35 – 37 Chalker Street presents one of Adaminaby’s most striking character homes.

This property is as versatile as it is charming. Built in 2008, the brick-and-Hardiplank home features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an expansive open-plan living zone designed to bring the whole family together.

While it looks like a country classic from the outside, visitors are treated to an ultra-modern, almost industrial-style when they step over the threshold.

Kelly Bertossi from Belle Property Snowy Mountains was hooked immediately by the home’s raked ceilings and feature windows.

“The house makes a real impact the moment you step inside,” she says.

“The main living area is a huge space, very open and warm, with timber beams overhead and heated epoxy-finished concrete floors underfoot.

“A slow-combustion wood fireplace adds extra character and combines with reverse-cycle air conditioning to keep the whole space comfy year-round.”

There are three bedrooms in total: two at ground level and one loft retreat.

The loft offers expansive views across the countryside through double curved windows. With a private ensuite, it features timber floors for that rustic touch, and there’s even a little walk-in wardrobe for extra convenience.

Bedrooms two and three share a family bathroom. One features a built-in wardrobe, while the other is oversized and could easily be divided to create a fourth bedroom.

“This space is also large enough to utilise as an additional living or rumpus room,” Kelly says.

“Next door is a spacious laundry and utility room with plenty of extra storage.”

Outdoors, the home features low-maintenance gardens, large established lawns and a few mature trees. The wrap-around patio is a real standout, boasting lush grape vines on all sides. A swing chair provides the perfect spot to relax and take in the view.

Entertainers will love the charming alfresco, which comes with a pizza oven and picnic-table seating. There’s also a fire pit area across the lawn.

Tying the property together are a powered double-bay shed and two rainwater tanks with about 30,000 litres of storage between them. Being on an amalgamated double block, there’s great subdivision potential here (subject to council approval).

Adaminaby is one of the highest towns in Australia, home to the Big Trout and renowned for top-notch fishing on Lake Eucumbene. It’s a quiet little town for much of the year, but things ramp up over winter thanks to Selwyn Snowfields being half an hour away.

Serviced by its own primary school, artisan bakery, popular takeaway, and the historic Snow Goose Hotel, Adaminaby makes a fantastic base for adventure across the Snowy Mountains.

This home is within walking distance of the town centre.

“Adaminaby has loads to offer anyone who loves the outdoors,” Kelly says.

“Lake Eucumbene and Selwyn Snowfields are ever-popular, but we’re also very close to world-class hiking, mountain biking and wildlife watching in Kosciuszko National Park.

“This property is really versatile. It would make an awesome holiday home, but would also suit a family looking for a slower, more considered lifestyle in a friendly country town.”
